The Joe Moore Award
O-Line Unit Credo

The Credo Behind the Award

The Joe Moore Award Credo—our guiding compass—was co-written by Jack Sichterman and Aaron Taylor in the summer of 2015, the award’s founding year. Jack wasn’t just there at the start. He was the start. He shaped the voice, the logo, the brand, and every ounce of intent behind the award. When things were moving fast and there was no playbook, Jack kept us focused. He was my right-hand man, my compass, and the steady hand that kept us aligned. More than anything, Jack believed—in offensive line play, in honoring the group over the individual, and in the idea that football could still teach us something sacred.

He passed away on December 10, 2017—just eleven days before we presented the award to Notre Dame’s offensive line, coached by Harry Hiestand.

It was a bittersweet milestone.

But we carry on. And every time we honor a unit that embodies toughness, teamwork, and unselfishness, we feel Jack in the room.

He helped build this. And his fingerprints are everywhere.
