Built on Resilience. Rooted in Teamwork

The Joe Moore Award has always celebrated more than the physical demands of offensive line play. It recognizes the strength that comes from showing up every day with purpose, discipline, and a willingness to push through whatever stands in the way. Resilience lives at the heart of that standard. It is the steady, consistent effort to improve, to stay connected, and to honor the responsibility that comes with being part of something bigger than yourself. That spirit has defined the award since the beginning.

Offensive line play requires a level of mental toughness that is often unseen but always felt. It shows up in the moments when things get hard, when plans change, when injuries test depth, and when unity becomes the difference between surviving a season and becoming a team worth remembering. Coach Moore believed that adversity reveals who you are and who you can become. The Foundation continues to honor that belief by recognizing groups that stay true to their identity and refuse to lose their way, no matter the circumstances.

Resilience is not loud. It does not seek attention. It is built through trust, repetition, and the commitment to lift the person next to you. The Joe Moore Award honors units that embody that mindset and carry it with them on and off the field. It is a reminder that mental toughness is not an add on to great offensive line play. It is the core of it. Teams that embrace this truth leave a lasting mark on the sport and carry forward the values that shaped Coach Moore’s life and legacy.

The Foundation for Teamwork is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to fostering the essential aspect of all great societal endeavors: teamwork. Our mission is to bring that spirit of collective achievement not only to sports, but also to schools, organizations, businesses and communities. By recognizing the accomplishment of the most outstanding offensive line unit in college football, the award promotes the value of teamwork, praising the collective achievement over the individual.

People who work together will win, whether it be against complex football defenses or the problems of modern society.
